Textron Marine & Land Systems officials are hoping to expand their Commando Advanced 4x4 armoured vehicle programme in Colombia by, among other things, branching beyond cavalry units.
The Colombian military has purchased a total of 67 Commando vehicles - 39 were bought in an original order without turrets and another 28 were more recently ordered with 40 mm/.50 calibre remote turrets - and Textron expects to finish building platforms from the second order sometime in March, Mike Gelpi, vice-president land systems and life cycle support at Textron Marine & Land Systems, told IHS Jane's .
Turrets are to be retrofitted on the original Commandos as well, he added.
Gelpi said that Colombian cavalry units are the main customer within Colombian army, and the company hopes to expand to other missions and units in the country, as well as expand elsewhere in the region.
Other Latin American countries have expressed interest in the Commando, he said, but none of the discussions are "mature enough to talk about at this point".
The Colombians, meanwhile, are exploring means of logistics support for the fleet by ordering spares and requesting two field service representatives for two years.
According to Gelpi, the army there has been pleased with the Commandos and has been employing the vehicles in day and night operations that range from jungle to highway terrain.
The 4x4 vehicles have a unique balance in survivability and off-road mobility, and weigh around 36,000 lbs (16,200 kg). The platforms have a V-shaped hull bottom and 360-degree direct fire. According to Textron, the Commando Advanced can be upgraded to higher crew protection levels through an Enhanced Survivability package.
The Colombian Army ordered its first tranche of Commandos in 2009 and that order was filled by July 2010, equipping three armoured support squadrons with troop transport variants and command-post units. A second order for 28 came in August 2013.
A que bien, a mi siempre me quedo la duda de si a los viejos les iban a poner la torreta, pero ya este articulo lo confirma, ahora si la flota de APCs va a quedar bien moderna.
Seria interesante que la vieja estación se la pongan a los Urutu, que bien pelados que están sus artilleros.

Estimado Enrique pensaba en lo mismo si se da esta noticia y se Estandariza la flota con la misma torre la otra adaptarsela al Urutu pero si de pronto por espacio se pueda de pronto el amigo AlexC nos podria ayudar o otros compañeros del foro mirando las fotos de ambos y comparando a ver si cuadra .
Pero si el Urutu va de salida, lo mejor es poner la estación en algo que todavía le quede vida util... yo pensaria que en los M-113 quedaria bien, o depronto en el Hunter, pero quien sabe si soporte el peso...

Por supuesto que al Urutu se le puede adaptar una torreta y si no pregúntele a los Venezolanos:
La pregunta seria: ¿ vale la pena gastar dinero en un proyecto para dotar al Urutu de una torreta como la del Guardián ???...es mas, vale la pena meterle esa plata al Urutu cuando sabemos que los vehículos que se están adquiriendo ( Guardian-LAV) vienen con un diseño en sus cascos para soportar IEDs y traen blindajes modulares ???
Para mi con los LAV y los Guardian podemos dejar los Urutu a la Infantería de Marina y que ellos pongan la torreta, así no solo le damos poder disuasivo a el EJC si no también a la INFAMAR.
se necesitan mas IFV que acompañen a los nuevos blindados LAV y commando ya que hay muy pocos cascavel ,en el caso de los LAV los mas economico seria dotar algunos con torretas de 25mm ya que el MGS debe ser bien costoso y en el caso de los commando se puede dotar con torretas de 90mm lo cual standarizaria las municion con la de los cascavel.
Yo me refería a ponerles a los Urutu la torreta que va de salida en los M-1117:
Así no quedan por ahí en algún almacén, y de una se les da protección decente a 39 Urutu con una inversión mínima, compuesta en adaptar la montura de esta al vehículo y su posterior instalación.
Pues estimado Rnrique Quedarian Exelentes con esa torre los Urutu ya que actualmente la unica proteccion del artillero es practicamente el arma misma y uno que otro chaleco antibalas.

Una pregunta , en que quedo la produccion de los chalecos antibalas Nacionales ? que supuestamente dotarian a casi todos los soldados ??
Pues yo no descartaría que el EJC siga comprando más M-1117, hasta ahora han salido muy buenos y resistentes. Esos se van a convertir en los "Blackhawk" terrestres...
